Always My Mama

You went through so much Ma . . .

Just to bring me here . . .

Through a hurricane and lightening . . .

Was it a SIGN that year?

Your life changed forever . . .

When I arrived . . .

There was no turning back . . .

And you had to survive.

You had to work hard . . .

In those early days . . .

With two mouths to feed . . .

And bills to be paid.

Some may say . . .

It’s no big deal . . .

But women stayed home then . . .

And you worked for our meals.

There were tough times for sure . . .

As time went along . . .

Life changes; rearranges . . .

But you tried to be strong.

By the Grace of God . . .

There was our Grandpa Joe . . .

Who love us, helped us . . .

And taught us what we know.

You learned life first . . .

But " Moms are Dumb ? " 

Still, you kept on teaching . . .

To shape what I’ve become.

As the years went by . . .

Sure, we butted heads . . .

Our differences of opinion . . .

Often made us see RED!

As you know, Dear Mama . . .

And have often said . . .

We don’t suffer fools well . . .

They make us ''crazy '' in the head!

But we’ve all been fools . . .

At one time or another . . .

Your daughter has . . .

And so has her Mother. :o)

What’s amazing is this:

Though we had issues to mend . . .

That two strong women . . .

Could become such good friends.

We’ve been around the block Mom . . .

More times than a few . . .

Through idiots and injustices . . .

You loved me; I loved you.

I guess there aren’t words . . .

To say all I feel . . .

But when it comes to MY MAMA . . .

You’re IT! …Signed and Sealed ! !

On July 4th, 2002 we lost Mama after a 6 year 

battle with cancer.
